About the Climate Risks Embers Explorer

Objectives of this app: a homogenous and accessible presentation of 'burning embers'

We hope that this app will be useful to many people, especially experienced ones including teachers and science journalists, who need to have synthetic information about climate change risks at their fingertips. We also hope that it will make it easier for scientists to access the data, enabling new uses of the vast amount of information assessed by the IPCC, such as in the first analysis presented in Marbaix et al. (2024) [→ References]. Finally, as it is both useful and challenging to obtain information about the scope and the risk assessment for each ember, we hope that the framework created here will facilitate collaboration towards a more comprehensive description of existing and newly assessed embers (see Experts: data access and contribution).

The figures presented herein are not IPCC figures, have not been subject to formal IPCC review processes and have not been endorsed by the IPCC. The IPCC does not assume any responsibility for their accuracy.

However, every effort is made to ensure that data resulting from IPCC assessments are accurately represented here, with due reference to sources.

An archive of the database on which this app is based is available on Zenodo (doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.12626977) under the CC-BY 4.0 license. We have confirmed with the IPCC that this data can be distributed in this way.
